The automated comet processing algorithms embodied in the LACAAS software perform well over a wide range of comet conditions. As shown in the following image series of increasing DNA damage, the LACAAS software reliably separates comet head and tail features, even when the level of damage is high.

In addition, LACAAS provides the user full review capabilities and an ability to manually edit or change the automatically delineated head and tail marker positions, and have the system recalculate comet measures and update them in the study database, if desired. Such edit operations are automatically noted in the system's audit trail log file.
